On the 27th we traveled by cruise ship along the Rhine River and saw much beautiful scenery.  The trip took us through the Rhine Valley where Reisling wine is made.  It is some of the best and the area was beautiful with vines tiered along the mountainsides.   It seems every little community has its own church or cathedral which breaks the sky line.  One such communjity was very interesting. 

The local bier garten and kircke were attached.  The minister is the bar tender during the week and after church on Sundays and moves from the beer garden to the church to offer the church service on Sunday  Then after church, he goes to the bar, opens it for an after church drink with church members.  It is a beautiful town, with beautiful houses, but the Zut Klosterschenft is well known along the scenic Rhine River for this unusual reputation.  I guess this is one position where the minister is more than shepherd of the flock! 

 

This journey through Germany continues to be fascinating and interesting, with the trip and with the 36 other persons touring with us.
