Welcome to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church!
Ministering in the Tri-County Area

Shortly after arriving home from Alaska, Dan was scheduled to work with Hosanna Industries, a local program begun at Bakerstown Presbyterian Church many years ago by one of his seminary classmates, Rev. Donn Ed.  But, that plan was delayed by the gas leak at our house.    Taking care of the gas leak repairs required the removal of some very large and old shrubbery from our yard.   In doing so, Dan got some pretty deep scratches on his legs that were very noticeable.

While working in the yard, he noticed that we continued to be plagued by moles.  He had tried everything to get rid of them - poison, vibrating devices, chewing gum, peanut butter on cotton balls, castor oil - nothing worked.  So, on one of his many 'plumbing' visits to Trader Horn, he came across some firecracker type devices that might just do the trick.  Problem was, however, these firecrackers had short fuses, and when lighting one, it went off in his hand, causing a very nasty and deep 2nd degree burn.

So, by the time Dan reported for work at Hosanna Industries the next week, his legs were scratched and his hand bandaged.   But he still had a good hand left, so the foreman sent him up on the rafters to help put on a new roof.  He was probably clinging to the rafters for dear life while hammering, or maybe he was distracted (or just plain clumsy), but he missed with the hammer and smashed his thumb.  Another bandaid.

Next project was to help cut and bend metal to make soffit and fascia.  When Dan was in seminary, right before we were married, he had a summer job doing just that, so he is experienced!  However, the edges are very sharp, and next thing he knew, he had cut his hand.  It was deep enough that it needed a bandage.

We were becoming very familiar by now with the first aid aisle at CVS.  But the night that Dan came home and told me he was going to be doing some electrical wiring the next day, I immediately checked his life insurance policy, then doubled it.....

This week he's in North Carolina studying wood carving.  When he was waiting for his flight at Pittsburgh airport, he filled out a survey and got a free gift.  Much to his amusement, it was a travel pack of bandaids.  Now how did they know????
